Synopsis

Gavin Guile is missing, leaving Kip and his allies to face the White King's horde in the fourth novel of the NYT bestselling Lightbringer series by Brent Week's.

When does an empire fall?

The Seven Satrapies have collapsed into four-and those are falling before the White King's armies.

Gavin Guile, ex-emperor, ex-Prism, ex-galley slave, formerly the one man who might have averted war, is now lost, broken, and trapped in a prison crafted by his own hands to hold a great magical genius. But Gavin has no magic at all. Worse, in this prison, Gavin may not be alone.

Kip Guile will make a last, desperate attempt to stop the White King's growing horde. Karris White attempts to knit together an empire falling apart, helped only by her murderous and possibly treasonous father-in-law Andross Guile.

Meanwhile, Teia's new talents will find a darker use-and the cost might be too much to bear.

Together, they will fight to prevent a tainted empire from becoming something even worse.

Devour this blockbuster epic fantasy series that had Peter V. Brett saying, "Brent Weeks is so good, it's starting to tick me off!"

About Brent Weeks

American author, Brent Weeks, had a very normal American upbringing upon being born in Whitefish, Montana in 1977. He developed a love for literature, which we all know can carry its readers to faraway places, escaping the reality of everyday living. He had a great fondness for Edgar Allen Poe, so his genre of writing was fantasy and mystery.

Weeks first novel, The Girl, was a complete failure, but as he says in his biography, skipping the boring parts, he has written eight best-selling novels. They include The Night Angel Trilogy and the Lightbringer Series for which he won several literary awards, and sold millions of copies. He also had a NYT best seller in his 2012 book, The Blinding Knife.

Weeks graduated from Hillsdale College in 2000 with an English degree. Before being a serious author, he taught briefly and was a bartender. He found his girl, Kristi Barnes, they were married and live in Oregon with their two daughters.

A prelude novel to the—hopefully—incredible conclusion. Since the start of this month, I’ve been binge rereading Lightbringer from the beginning non-stop, and I’d say that my reread experience for the previous three books has been rewarding. The Black Prism and The Blinding Knife were even better on......more

Check out my YouTube channel where I show my instant reactions to reading fantasy books as soon as I finish the book. So Much Love. Honestly, ever since I started reading Brent Weeks, I've been trying to capture the feel of his glorious writing in all the wrong places. I keep picking up Epic Fantasies here and there and everywhere just trying to satisfy my fix. And yet? Well let me be perfectly honest here. Less than......more

I don’t know how Weeks consistently ratchets up the tension, weirdness, and world-building with each novel, but here we are at book number four, THE BLOOD MIRROR, and you shouldn’t be surprised by this point that it’s yet another big book of epic fantasy goodness. Weeks only gets better with time. Hi......more
