Synopsis

MORE THAN 1 MILLION COPIES SOLD!A road map for discipleship with Jesus that is powerfully transformative.Peter Scazzero learned the hard way: you can't be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Even though he was the pastor of a growing church, he did what most people do--avoid conflict in the name of Christianity; ignore his anger, sadness, and fear; use God to run from God; and live without boundaries.Eventually God awakened him to a biblical integration of emotional health and the spiritual practice of slowing down and quieting your life for to experience a firsthand relationship with Jesus. It created nothing short of a spiritual revolution in Scazzero, in his church, and now in thousands of other churches. In this updated edition, Scazzero shares new stories and principles as he outlines his journey and the signs of emotionally unhealthy spirituality. Then he provides seven biblical, reality-tested steps to become emotionally mature:Become your authentic selfBreak the power of the pastLet go of power and controlSurrender to your limitsStop to breathe by practicing rest and SabbathLearn new skills to love wellLove Christ above all else Plus, check out the full line of Emotionally Healthy Spirituality books dedicated to many different key areas of life. There's a lot to process and it can be overwhelming to consider real-life......more

This is one of my favorites books of the year! Although there are many great things to learn from this book the biggest thing for me was the love chapter. That chapter helped me understand that I can love everyone well despite us having contrary beliefs or life styles. Their actions and what they sa......more

I never realized how common it is in Christianity for us to be emotionally unstable, I thought it was just me. Ha ha. This book serves as a guideline to becoming emotionally mature along......more

My small group read this book together after several of us hearing many recommendations. This book came to me at such a timely moment in my life. I didn’t know how to put language around certain experiences or that there even was language to describe how the things of my past could be informing my p......more

Great book. This is hard for a lot of people because many of us our emotionally constipated. If you’ll simply give into the direction Scazzero offers, you will grow. It may hurt and you may want to put the book down at times, but see it through. If you’re honest with yourself this book will provide......more
