Synopsis

Headstrong American heiress Lillian Bowman has come to England to find an aristocratic husband. Unfortunately, no man is strong enough to tame the stubborn beauty's fierce will. Except, perhaps, the powerful and arrogant Earl of Westcliff—a man Lillian despises more than anyone she's ever met.Marcus, Lord Westcliff, is famous for his icy English reserve and his supreme self-control. But something about the audacious Lillian drives him mad. Whenever they're in the same room, they can't stop themselves from battling furiously to gain the upper hand. Then one afternoon, a stunningly sensuous encounter changes everything . . . and Lillian discovers that beneath the earl's reserved façade, he is the passionate and tender lover of her dreams. What neither Westcliff nor Lillian suspect, however, is that a sinister conspiracy threatens to destroy any chance of happiness. After a shocking betrayal endangers Lillian's safety—and possibly her life—will Marcus be able to save her before it's too late?

About Lisa Kleypas

Lisa Kleypas, an American author, was born in 1964, and chose the genre of Historical Romantic Novels to begin her writing career. Even when her and her mother's Texas homes were taken by a devastating flood, they both went to buy the necessities, and for both of them that included a romance novel. After her graduation from Wellesley College in Political Science, Lisa published her first book at age 21. She has been very successful writing for Avon Books with her representative being the prestigious William Morris Agency.

Lisa has been writing full time since selling that first book at 21 years of age. She has sold millions of copies around the world, and has won many writing achievement awards over the years. One non-writing achievement came when she was Miss Massachusetts in the Miss America Pageant in 1985. At only 5'2", it was a challenge to wear a banner on which was printed one of the longest state names. She did win a "talented non-finalist" award for singing an original song.

Lisa decided in 2006 to temporarily change her writing genre to contemporary romance, but she did say she plans to return to historical romance in the future. Her list of published books keeps growing, with her 2012 book, "Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor" being made into the Hallmark movie, "Christmas With Holly". In 2015, she was given the honor of emceeing the Romance Writers of America Award Show. Lisa lives in Washington with her husband, Gregory, and their two children.

This is an abridged edition. Some of the love scenes--which are very well written--have been omitted. So if you are expecting them, do not purchase this or the other Wallflower audiobooks.

I loved her brash, foul mouthed, outspoken american ways. I couldn't wait for her to bring Westcliff to his knees. So I wa......more

I originally wanted to write a long review explaining why this series took a problematic turn and well, this book in general. But I still can't comprehend Kleypas's choice. So here's my somewhat of a review of the book before the very last scene and then I'll tell you why readers are outrageous, at......more
