Synopsis

In the Micronesian Islands, a top-secret US undersea lab vanishes . . .

At the same time, off Bermuda, a bathysphere operated by NUMA and overseen by Kurt Austin is attacked and becomes stranded half a mile below the surface. Only quick thinking and bold action will save the crew - which includes the head of a certain, now-missing undersea lab - from a watery grave.

Austin is convinced both events are connected, and he puts NUMA on the case. Soon he's uncovering some hideous medical experiments and evidence of a terrifying virus that could be used to create a worldwide pandemic. Behind it all lies an ambitious Chinese criminal organization prepared to commit mass murder to achieve its ends.

Now Austin must put his life on the line in order that millions will be saved from death . . .

Clive Cussler, author of the bestselling Dirk Pitt series, and co-author Paul Kemprecos put their hero, Kurt Austin, at the forefront of a battle against time and global pandemic in Medusa, the eighth novel of the action-packed NUMA Files series.

About Clive Cussler

During a very active, interesting life, author. Clive Cussler became interested in writing. He was in the Air Force during the Korean War followed by a career in advertising writing award winning commercials. In 1996 he wrote his first notification work, The Sea Hunters. From that work he was awarded a Doctor of Letters degree, with his work being accepted in lieu of a thesis. Then, in 2002 he was awarded the Naval Heritage Award for his efforts in the subject of marine exploration. He is also a Fellow in three prestigious marine organizations.

In keeping with his marine interests, his books revolved around character, Dirk Pitt, who was a marine engineer, government agent, and adventurer. His first two novels were more traditional maritime thrillers, but the third, Raise the Titanic, established his iconic style.....a blend of high adventure and high technology involving villains, sunken treasure, and beautiful women.

Cussler writes in the style like fellow authors, Michael Crichton, creating techno - thrillers that do not depend on any certain settings with great spectacular and outlandish plot devices. He has had more than seventeen titles on the New York Times fiction best seller list.

If your are looking for pure swash-buckling adventure, then this is it. NUMA (National Underwater Marine Agency) is an oceanographic research foundation, and some of the key personnel seem to be very similar to the James Bond character; extremely capable, nonchalant, easy-going even in a pinch, and......more
