Synopsis

A look into the dark side of the internet's secret underbelly

The dark web is the internet's evil twin, where anything can be bought and sold. Drugs, weapons, and hackers-for-hire are available at the touch of a button.

Most who visit merely look around, happy to satisfy their curiosity before leaving, never to return. But some are sucked into the criminal underworld and find themselves doing things they would never have contemplated in the real world—ordering a hit on a love rival or bidding on an auction for a sex slave—like the people in this book.

A Minnesota dog trainer is found dead of an apparent suicide after detectives find her details on a dark web murder-for-hire site. But who paid $13,000 in Bitcoin to kill this devout Christian and beloved wife and mother?

A Page-3 glamour model is drugged, kidnapped and listed for sale on a dark web human trafficking site. A secret society called Black Death demands a ransom for her safe return, or else she will be sold to sadistic millionaires to use before feeding to the tigers. These are extraordinary true tales of infidelity, betrayal, and shadowy hitmen and human traffickers who may not be that they seem.

Contains mature themes.

About Eileen Ormsby

Eileen Ormsby is a lawyer, author, and freelance journalist based in Melbourne. Her first book, Silk Road, was the world's first in-depth expose of the black markets that operate on the dark web. Eileen's gonzo-style investigations have led her deep into the secretive corners of the dark web where drugs and weapons dealers, hackers, hitmen, and worse ply their trade. Many of these dark web interactions turned into real-world relationships, entanglements, hack attempts on her computer and even death threats from the dark web's most successful hitman network as she researched Darkest Web. She now lives a quiet life off-grid as much as possible.

I love Eileen Ormsby’s novels. I’ve only read two and have already ordered the rest! She does each crime she writes about absolute justice without providing an overwhelming amount of unnecessary information, like so many true crime authors do. I love that her novels include more than one story.......more

This is the second e-book I have read on Kindle Unlimited and its a good one! The term 'dark web' needs little introduction in the internet ear of 2021 yet still poses many questions; is it all encrypted? It is as sinister as we imagine, and what will we find there? I've never ventured into the dark......more

Two stories for one price I hadn't heard of either story before reading this book. I found both to be very educational and intriguing to say the least. My eyes were opened to internet services on the dark web I knew nothing about. How Amy was stalked torment then killed was awful. Her husband didn't......more

Interesting Keeps you reading, however the information provided, not counting one verifiable case in MN, is about as shady as the scammers on the dark web. It shows how ignorant people who look to do harm are as easily scammed as elderly people who believe they've won money based on nefarious claims.......more
